How Long Will My Dream Wrap Last?

Houston vehicle wraps will last a long time with proper care and maintenance. Your vehicle wrap is guaranteed against fading and cracking for three years, but here’s no reason if you take extra care that it can’t last quite a bit longer.

The short answer is, your wrap should last for five years against fading, peeling and cracking, with the window areas lasting only two years.

Frankly, the type of materials being used, even the colors that are printed can have a big effect on how long it will be before visible fading begins. Basically, by the time it starts to fade you are going to be thinking of getting a new design or a new vehicle. We use only the highest quality 3M products on our vehicle wraps, which come with various longevity guarantees depending on what your goal is (there are different vinyls guaranteed for different lengths of time).

But here's the thing, if you carefully read the fine print you will see that 3M's guarantee is not only conditional, but also pro-rated. So, if you call up in the fourth year of a five year guarantee you probably are not going to get much financial consideration if any. You BEST bet is to take care of your wrap carefully and get the best life out of it that you can.

What can you do to help your vehicle last as long as possible?

 

  • Wait 2-3 weeks after wrapping your vehicle to wash it.
  • Hand wash your vehicle with a non-abrasive cloth use cleaners that are solvent and alcohol free
  • A hands free car wash is an OK alternative, but not ideal (avoid high pressure washers!). If you go with this option, avoid the heated drying option.
  • On covered windows, avoid using defrosters of windshield wipers. Also avoid opening and closing the window.
  • Use "wrap polish" to "wax" you vehicle. In the long run this can help avoid cracking of the wrap and ink. Available from ABI Digital Solutions and INCLUDED in our complete wrap packages.
